Get a taste of improv!

Is Improv as fun as it looks? Yes it is! And Washington Improv Theater’s free Improv For All workshops are a great way to get a taste. We’re hosting workshops Friday, 5/15 at 7 PM and Saturday, 5/16 at noon. Washington Improv Theater is dedicated to sharing the ideas and spirit of improv with all of DC. WIT’s free introductory Improv For All workshops are high-fun, low-stress classes designed to show you how improvisers create spontaneous, off-the-cuff theater. Our enthusiastic and friendly instructors work to make sure everyone is able to participate in a playful and trusting atmosphere.

Fifth Annual Dramathon

The Theatre Lab School of the Dramatic Arts
Once again, participants will join some of Washington’s top actors for premiere readings of original short plays by some of DC’s most esteemed playwrights, all to help us provide financial support to send kids to camp. All funds raised go toward our Send a Kid to Theatre Camp campaign, which, this year, will provide $83,000 in scholarships to help financially disadvantaged children and teens participate in our summer camps and institutes.

Kids to Parks Day

National Park Trust
Children, families, teachers, cities, towns, and parks are gearing up for this year’s Kids to Parks Day (KTP), a nation-wide day of outdoor play organized by National Park Trust (NPT) in cooperation with a host of local and national collaborators. This year’s KTP Day will be held on Saturday May 16, 2015, the week before the official start of summer. NPT is encouraging children across the country to explore their neighborhood parks and discover science, history, nature and adventure right around the corner or just across town. Vive La France! — Children’s Chorus of Washington’s Spring Concert

Children’s Chorus of Washington
Childrens Chorus of Washington (CCW) is pleased to announce its Spring Concert, Vive la France!, featuring CCW’s five award-winning choral ensembles and guest artist Lauren Cook, accordion. With Vive la France!, CCW continues its French-themed season in anticipation of its tour to France this summer. CCW’s performing ensembles, comprised of 160 choristers ages 9-18, will present a celebration of French music, language, and culture. Audience members will be treated to a wide range of choral styles from Edith Piaf’s beloved La Vie en Rose, to Cole Porter’s I Love Paris, along with the more contemporary Dirait-on from Morten Lauridsen’s Les Chansons des Roses, and a selection of songs in French and English. Joan Gregoryk, Founder and Artistic Director said, “It has been a wonderful experience to research and discover all the glorious French choral music that has been written for children’s voices.” We are so looking forward to sharing these songs with audiences here, and on our tour to France this summer. This concert is suitable for ages 6 and up!

Annual Gala, ” A Night of Magic” Volunteer Opportunity

Community Ministries of Rockville
Annual Gala to benefit Community Minsitries of Rockville. Co-chairs by County Executive Ike and First Lady Catherine Legget will be joined by Washington Post Columnist John Kelly who will serve as the evening’s Master of Ceremonies. A Silent Auction filled with over 250 items will begin the evening followed by dinner, music and a live auction.
