Sponsorship
When you support Spur Local, you do more than spread the word about our region’s critical local nonprofits. You also enable us to create resources that empower our nonprofit partners to grow well beyond their inclusion in our network.
We do our work at no cost to donors or nonprofits. There is no fee to apply, be featured, or be a member of our nonprofit network. And when donors give through Spur Local, formerly the Catalogue for Philanthropy, the percentage we charge to distribute their gifts is 0%.
We rely on, and deeply appreciate, the generosity of foundations, organizations, and individuals in our community, whose support keeps Spur Local’s work free.
If you are interested in partnering with us, there are a number of ways you can get involved.
Corporate Support
We offer corporate sponsorship and gift matching opportunities for organizations looking to partner with Spur Local as we educate and empower our network of nonprofit partners through workshops and events. This includes event sponsorship for our annual Give Local Gala in May and Community Changemakers celebration in November.
Considering inspiring employee or client gifts to celebrate the holidays or reward a job well done? Purchase Spur Local gift cards! With these gift cards, your recipients get to make an impact where it matters most to them.
If your company is interested in these opportunities, contact Sarah Hall Aguila, our Development Director.
Funder Support
As the largest capacity builder in the Greater Washington region, we at Spur Local specifically tailor our programming for the needs of community-based nonprofits. Our staff understands both the challenges and creative opportunities that arise when working with a small budget and team. Our capacity building resources emphasize adaptation, collaboration, and organizational sustainability.
If you are a funder looking to tangibly support your nonprofit grantees, consider purchasing organizational memberships to give them access to our digital resource library housing 200+ tools, recorded webinars, and templates, access to our annual National Small Nonprofit Summit, and access to 80+ live webinars a year. Spur Local also facilitates cohorts for nonprofit leaders, including cohorts for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) Executive Directors and rising Executive Directors, as well as a six-month Grassroots Accelerator Program for leaders at organizations with budgets below $250,000.
Contact Chiara Frechette, our Programs Director, to learn more about these opportunities.
Other Collaborations
Spur Local connects local nonprofits with residents in our region who want to engage civically—whether that looks like learning more about regional issues, finding the small nonprofits in their neighborhoods, or fundraising for a cause that matters to them in an innovative way.
In the past, Spur Local has hosted community events like panels, happy hours, and dinner conversations, partnering with local businesses so that residents can meet our nonprofit partners at interesting venues across our city. In 2022, we also developed a Gratitude Crawl around GivingTuesday to encourage communal ways of sharing generosity.
If you are interested in collaborating with Spur Local on events, civic action, and other such partnerships, please contact Amanda Liaw, our Communications & Marketing Manager.
