Theatre Lab’s 20th Annual Cabaret Benefit

The Theatre Lab School of the Dramatic Arts
It’s almost time again for the always entertaining Theatre Lab Cabaret Benefit Dinner & Auction in support of our education and outreach programs. The silent auction will begin at 5 pm, followed by dinner and the evening’s program at 7:00 pm, which will feature performances by Theatre Lab students as well as selected live auction items. We have partnered with the firm 501 Auctions to streamline the event’s operations, and you can visit our event portal (http://www.501auctions.com/theatrelabbenefit) to buy tickets, sponsor the event, donate an auction item, and more. A Choral Postlude: Sacred Music for the Basilica

Fairfax Choral Society
FCS is honored to open our 2014-2015 season with a concert of sacred music presented as Postlude to the celebration of Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. The Basilica is the largest church in the western hemisphere and the eighth largest church building in the world a magnificent space for making music. This unique program, presented free and open to the public by the FCS 120-voice Symphonic Chorus, includes works by Stephen Paulus, Ola Gjeilo, Paul Mealor and Eric Whitacre, and features instrumental soloists, Philippe Chao, violist, and Daniel Mears, percussionist.

“Speak Up for Children” Training for Virginia Advocates

SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now) of Northern Virginia
On Tuesday, November 18th, SCAN will partner with Prevent Child Abuse Virginia to host a Speak Up for Children Training for Virginia Advocates. Participants will better understand the legislative process and learn how to be an effective advocate. They’ll also hear policy advocates and legislators discuss some of the key issues affecting vulnerable children and families which will be on the agenda in the upcoming Virginia General Assembly session. Legislative panelists include Senator Barker, Senator Favola, Delegate Hope, Delegate Lopez, Delegate Albo and Delegate Herring. Policy discussions will include Foster Care and Adoption, Mental Health Resources for Virginia’s Youth and Human Trafficking. RSVP by November 11, 2014.

Crittenton’s 126th Anniversary Celebration

On November 20, 2014 Crittenton Services of Greater Washington is celebrating 126 years of serving teen girls and women with a celebration – both inspiring and fun – with music, awards presented to prestigious honorees, success stories from Crittenton alumnae, and a silent auction. Our team is led by host committee co-chairs Catherine Leggett, Beverly Perry, Jeffrey Slavin, and Bryan Tramont, and board ambassadors Carol Rognrud and Aaron Myers. The honorary chairs include elected officials from the national, state, and local levels as well as other community leaders. On November 20th, we will be bringing together 250 of the area’s “movers and shakers” to listen to music and hear from our prestigious honorees.
