There’s no better way to enjoy this last week of summer than to check out what our nonprofits are up to on this #whatsupwednesday. As DC schools welcome back students and teachers, many of our nonprofits are busy, busy, busy! Check out the video version HERE
At Washington School for Girls, students shared fun times and giggles as they got to know one another during the back-to-school “name game”!
Today Reading Partners was at Patterson Elementary School in DC, where they put the finishing touches on their reading center!
Arlington-Alexandria Coalition for the Homeless (new ’14-’15 Catalogue charity) is almost done collecting backpacks to help their kids look cool for school!
Joseph’s House celebrated Blossom Ewin (left), one of their nurse’s aides, on the occasion of her retirement. Scott Sanders, Deputy Director, says of Blossom: “Her big heart, compassionate care, and mothering ways have endeared her to legions of Joseph’s House residents, volunteers, staff, and friends.”
Crossroads Community Food Network (new ’14-’15 Catalogue charity) enjoyed this beautiful Wednesday at their weekly market where they double the value of federal nutrition benefits (like food stamps or WIC) spent at market for low-income shoppers – fresh fruits and veggies for all!
Latino Student Fund received over 10 boxes of supplies from a surprise back to school drive thanks to U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Center for Education & Workforce!
A big congratulations to each of these nonprofits on another outstanding week!
