Serious childhood illness takes a tremendous toll on the entire family, both emotionally and financially — but RMHCDC steps in to ease the burden. Its two Houses (in DC and Virginia) serve families of critically ill or injured children in treatment at area hospitals, providing a "home-away-from-home" where families can be together. While a small daily donation is welcome, no family is turned away for inability to pay. For families staying together at Inova Children’s Hospital or Children’s National, Ronald McDonald Hospitality Carts provide bedside hospitality to families and children directly in the hospital. In addition, two Ronald McDonald Care Mobile programs provide free preventative healthcare as well as nutrition and fitness education to under-served and under-insured children in our region. Keeping families together in a time of need is … priceless.
