General Information

  • Volunteer Opportunities / Responsibilities: Our volunteers help run our Wild Plant Nursery, where we are growing about 320 native plant species, all from seed that we ourselves collect from local forests and meadows. Nursery tasks generally involve watering, transplanting seedlings, weeding, and light construction.

    Our volunteers also help out on our field sites, where we are restoring degraded forest and meadow in local parks, planting native vegetation along stream banks, collecting seed, removing invasive alien vegetation, developing native-plant gardens for schools, and, increasingly, collecting field information.
  • Types of Volunteers Needed: individual/adult; adult groups of less than 5; individual/high school; families with children; adult groups of 6 or more, including corporate teams; adult groups of 6 or more, including corporate teams
  • Hours Needed: business hours during the week; daytime on the weekend
