FRESHFARM connects communities to healthy, local food—while sustaining the livelihoods of more than 240 small and mid-sized farmers and food producers in the Mid-Atlantic. Their farmers markets make fresh produce available to all across the DC metro area, and can double the value of SNAP, WIC, and Senior Nutrition benefits so families in need can bring home twice as much healthy food. At each market, leftover produce is donated to neighborhood emergency food providers to feed those in need. Through the FoodPrints program, 8,000 students each year learn to grow, harvest, cook, and enjoy seasonal produce—often alongside their parents and caregivers. And through the Pop-Up Food Hub, FRESHFARM partners with nearly 70 community organizations to deliver fresh vegetables and fruits directly to children, families, and seniors. FRESHFARM nourishes bodies, strengthens communities, and keeps local farms thriving.
