General Information

  • Volunteer Opportunities / Responsibilities: The New Futures Associate Board is comprised of young professionals in the DC area who volunteer their time to support the mission of New Futures. Associate Board members organize a variety of fundraising events each year, as well as lend their time and talents by serving on Board of Directors’ committees and participating in other New Futures events. Their work has a real impact on the direction of New Futures. Joining the Associate Board is a great way to meet friendly young professionals in the DC area.

New Futures seeks volunteers who can enrich our scholarship selection process by engaging and supporting students before and after their finalist interviews. The finalist interview is a key component of our scholarship application process that allows candidates to further advocate for a New Futures scholarship of up to $12,800. The Scholarship Interview Volunteer greets finalists and directs them to the waiting area; answers any questions they have about their interview time and/or format; and informs candidates of the next steps in the selection process. As a result, the volunteer will play a key role in putting finalists at ease before their interview with the Selection Committee, which will provide the committee with a deeper understanding of each candidate.
Openings are also available on New Futures' committees working with student support initiatives, development/fundraising, event planning, and public relations.
