#WhatsUpWednesday 11.19.14

We love hearing from our network of nonprofits each week to learn about all of the great things they’re doing in the community. During this week’s #whatsupwednesday, we get to take a look at the work of Everybody Wins! DC, DC SCORES, Senior Services of Alexandria, and even some of the exciting things happening at the Catalogue for Philanthropy. See a sneak peek in the video below!

See below for details behind the photos:

Everybody Wins! DC

EW!DC Executive Director Mary Salander reads with her reading partner Rico, a 2nd grader at John Tyler Elementary School. Rico’s favorite activities are reading and football!

DC SCORES

The Chavez Prep Eagles advanced to DC SCORES’ Capital Cup middle school championship with an exciting goal in penalty kicks!

Senior Services of Alexandria

Senior Services of Alexandria and ACT for Alexandria co-sponsored a speaker series “Preparing for Important Conversations” on Wednesday, November 19th, at Beth El Hebrew Congregation. Attendees heard from local experts about how to prepare to have conversations about life decisions and the outcomes to expect.

SCAN of Northern Virginia

Tonight, SCAN of Northern Virginia is providing a parenting workshop on keeping kids safe on the Internet (in Spanish!) at Key Middle School.

In exciting Catalogue for Philanthropy news…we have a great piece in the upcoming December issue of Washingtonian magazine. Be sure to take a look when it comes our on newsstands next week!
