Horror Classics: Phantom of the Opera

Joe’s Movement Emporium/World Arts Focus
Joe’s hosts a series of cool thrillers 7:30 pm on Mondays in July that show incredible photographer, intense acting, and real theatrics before the digital era. Renew your interest in these classic or discover them for the first time! This series is curated by Vernon Sears. Ticket price covers Sears’ introduction to each film and lead of a short discussion after each film. BYOP (Bring your own Popcorn!) The Phantom of the Opera (1925) starring Lon Chaney, Sr. and Mary Philbin features cellars below the Paris Opera House. In dungeons long forgotten lurked the dark, shadowy presence of Erik, a man whose gifts of music and magic were eclipsed by a disfigurement from birth for which he was loathed even by his own mother who forced him to cover his face with a mask. Still Erik desired, as do all, to be loved as other are, seeking that love from the beautiful young engenue Christine Daae.
