Volunteer Opportunity at the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Children’s National Medical Center

Volunteer Opportunity at the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Children’s National Medical Center Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Greater Washington DC needs volunteers to work a weekly 3 hour shift in the Ronald McDonald Family Room located at Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC). Shifts are seven days a week: 9AM to Noon, Noon to 3PM, 3PM to 6PM and 6PM to 9PM. Volunteers will be cross trained by both RMHC and CNMC. Wild Plant Nursery Work Day

Every Monday and Thursday are our nursery’s volunteer work days. If you’re a natural gardener or botanically curious, please join and become one of our Nursery Diva volunteers. Work at the nursery is usual some combination of weeding, transplanting seedlings, and watering. Thursdays will most likely be seed collection excursions with regular volunteers. Our schedule is varied and flexible, so please email Lisa (lbright@earthsangha.org) first if you intend on joining us on these days.

Big Band Bash

The Senior Connection of Montgomery County
The Senior Connection is inviting you to attend our BIG BAND BASH on November 1, 2013 from 6:00-10:00 pm at the Silver Spring Civic Center. Wild Plant Nursery Work Day

Reducing Neck and Shoulder Tension with Daniel Burkholder

The Integrated Body Tune-Up Workshops address issues essential to effortless dancing, including increasing technical proficiency, expanding movement range and eliminating or reducing chronic discomfort. Through easy-to-learn unique movement sequences students release tension, improve body awareness and move more efficiently. Developed by choreographer Daniel Burkholder and based on the revolutionary Feldenkrais Method, these classes are gentle, yet highly effective.

Native Species Planting: Marie Butler Leven Preserve

We will mostly be planting canopy tree species: American Chestnut, Butternut, Oak, Black Walnut in the cleared edge of the woods. We will also plant some herbaceous plants, such as Little Bluestem, in the cleared section of the meadow. We are looking for 10 to 12 volunteers for the job. Student volunteers are welcome, as well as family with young volunteers. We have no age limit.
