2013 Fall Gala: “Dreaming of Possibilities: A Night Celebrating Five Talents’ Micro-Entrepreneurs”

6th Annual Potomac River Jam

Potomac Conservancy
Join Potomac Conservancy for the 6th annual Potomac River Jam–an afternoon full of celebration of the natural beauty, culture, and history of the Potomac River and C&O Canal. All afternoon, the melodies of local musicians will fill the air with songs from a variety of musical genres. Canoe trips will be offered, and kids will enjoy face painting, games, and crafts. Exciting items from local businesses, such as REI, will be raffled off as well. Light refreshments will be provided. This is a free event open to all ages.

Every Monday and Thursday are our nursery’s volunteer work days. If you’re a natural gardener or botanically curious, please join and become one of our Nursery Diva volunteers. Work at the nursery is usual some combination of weeding, transplanting seedlings, and watering. Thursdays will most likely be seed collection excursions with regular volunteers. Our schedule is varied and flexible, so please email Lisa (lbright@earthsangha.org) first if you intend on joining us on these days.

Facing Challenging Circumstance: An Evening of Film & Conversation

Join us for an exploration of the human spirit in the face of challenging circumstances with poet filmmaker Nic Askew, creator of Soul Biographies. Join us for an evening of film and conversation to support Joseph’s House’s care of the homeless and dying. The evening will include a screening of Nic’s new short film about Joseph’s House, “On the Edge of Life and Death,” and two other short films, one about the onset of dementia and the other about the death of one’s child. Nic will take us through the making of each film and its relevance to every human life, and will engage in a conversation with Joseph’s House Executive Director Patty Wudel and members of the audience.
