The Theatre Lab School of the Dramatic Arts (733 8th Street NW)

Rags, the dynamic Broadway musical by Stephen Schwartz, Charles Strouse, and Joseph Stein, opens this Friday at 8:00 PM with an extremely talented young cast. Performances continue on Saturday & Sunday and you can nab tickets here.

Literacy Council of Northern Virginia (at the James Lee Community Center, 2855 Annandale Road, Falls Church)

Interested in becoming an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) tutor and spreading literacy in the Northern Virginia area? Sign up for a training session, starting this Saturday from 9:30 – 3:30 PM.

Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (545 7th Street SE)

Up for a fast-paced, fun, and FREE musical show for kids and adults? The Singing Lizard returns to CHAW this coming Saturday at 10:00 AM. And starting at 10:15 AM, families can create replicas of the renowned Sugarfoots multi-cultural dolls as part of ARTdays, a series of free concerts and events. Register in advance right here!

Rising stars of The Washington Ballet’s Studio Company present an elegant rendition of The Sleeping Beauty. This family-friendly program is perfect for both “balletomanes” and ballet newcomers — and gives audiences an up-close view of the dancers.

On Saturday at 8:00 PM & Sunday at 7:00 PM, Dance Place Director Deborah Riley continues to examine our complex relationship with food, nourishment, and hunger; celebrity chefs, pouting dieters, organic farmers, and all food lovers contribute to this timely work.

Want to do more than visit the River Center? Have an interest in local history? Why not become a volunteer River Center Guide this summer?
