Snow has arrived! Winter is here! … Along with plenty of performance events at our non-profits. Read on for great entertainments ideas for your weekend:

Looking for Music?

On Saturday at 4:00, the Children’s Chorus of Washington will present their Bel Canto and Concert Choruses, joined by the Washington Symphonic Brass, for a performance of holiday favorites and a carol sing-along; you can also come back on Sunday and catch the Concert and Treble Choruses and the 65-voice CCW Alumni Chorus. For a Baroque Christmas celebration, you definitely should check out the Washington Bach Consort, who will be presenting a fascinating exploration of period music from Europe, Latin America, and Mexico on Sunday afternoon; more information over this way.

Looking for Theater?

Over at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, Second City continues to take on the most influential, powerful, and polarizing women in government in A Girl’s Guide to Washington Politics; call 202-393-3939 to snag tickets to any of the four performances this weekend. And over at the District of Columbia Arts Center, the salacious party and the swinging continue in Cherry Red’s Wifeswappers; tickets and more information are right here.

Or might you like to perform yourself? Well, in that case, The Writer’s Center is offering an awesome Poetry and Prose open mic afternoon on Sunday; sign-ups start at 1:30 and you can call 301-654-8664 x204 to learn more.

Looking for Dance?

Head to Friendship Heights on Saturday or Sunday for the Performance Class Showcase at Joy of Motion Dance Center, featuring adult dance students in hip hop, modern, belly dance, tease, and Bollywood pieces; tickets are available right here. For a dance-infused Kwanzaa Celebration, do stop by Dance Place, where Coyaba Academy, Coyaba Dance Theater, and special guests will celebrate the seven principles of the holiday; three performances this weekend, so click here to learn more!
